The Laundry, Glengarry Crescent, Invercargill

This self service launderette has been operated by the Employment Resources Southland since mid-1998.

Opening hours are 9 am - 7 pm. We are open seven days per week but are closed on Christmas day.

We have eight washing machines and seven driers.

We endeavour to have the laundry attended during opening hours in case assistance is required. If customers prefer, they may have their laundry done for them by one of six volunteers who work at the laundry .

It costs $3.00(1 * $2 + 1 * $1)) to do a wash and the drier costs fifty cents for five minutes of drying time. Both washing machines and driers take fifty cent coins

Pick up and delivery service available by prior arrangement.

OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation)

We are National Association of OSCAR registered and Child Youth & Family Service approved.

NAOSCAR is a nationwide organisation involved in after school and school holiday programmes for children in the 5 - 13 age group.

OSCAR provides dependable, caring and safe childcare for primary school children, after school and during Primary School holidays.

After School programmes operate Monday - Friday during school terms, excepting public holidays and 2 weeks over Xmas at:

Invercargill North School	91 Chelmsford Street, Rosedale, Invercargill.
Invercargill South School	267 Crinan Street, Invercargill.

Children can be picked up from most primary schools within the city to attend these programmes.

Hours: (Monday - Friday)

The minimum cost is $5 per day after school and $11 per half day during holidays. A subsidy is available from WINZ for lower income families.

Afternoon tea is provided during term time plus morning tea during the holidays.

Indoor and outdoor activities are provided, subject to weather. These include art & craft activities, board & card games, some sport and free play time. During term they can also do homework if desired.

New Zealand Primary School Holidays (inclusive)

Currently NAOSCAR are working on a training package for OSCAR workers, this includes a National OSCAR Certificate.
